Our new murals are one of the sites for Nuit Blanche this year and our parking lot will be the rendezvous point for the Bike Jam.

screen-shot-2016-09-22-at-4-09-50-pmSat, Oct 1 from 6pm – 9:30 ish. Our parking lot will be transformed into a pop-up party that will include:

  • Rally point for the annual Rainbow Trout Bike Jam (last year’s bike jam had about 600 bicycles), and for anyone else participating in the Nuit Blanche activities.
  • Large pop-up stage with music (sponsored by Manitoba Music with 3 amazing acts),
  • Participatory art project,
  • Bike tune-ups,
  • Break dance competition,
  • Light art installations and a
  • DJ booth.

It’s gonna be a party! We’re expecting in upwards of 1000 people and bicycles in our parking lot.

The whole event is a family friendly and dry. It will be loud and well lit (there’s a giant disco ball being installed above the DJ booth). Access to the building will be limited to the Flatlanders Studio (porta potties will be provided outside).

Our very own Flatlanders Studio will be open with the new exhibit called Art Catalogue. Blair is working hard at getting this show up and running.  Make sure you come out and see the new LED light system that has just been installed – not to mention some great art!

This seems like a lot – and it is! For us it is all a great opportunity to “work for the good of the city in which I have sent you.” (Jeremiah 29)

Project Timothy Prayer Requests

After a year of fundraising, the youth are finally heading out to Project Timothy! Below are a few prayer requests from Jodi Labun:

“Hey folks, nine of us this week are heading out to Landenberg, PA where Project Timothy (youth discipleship bootcamp) is being held from July 29-Aug 6.

Please pray for our youth as they prepare this week and as they go.  Please pray for smooth travels as this group is travelling by air on three different dates on the weekend beginning on Friday.  Pray for safety for James as he drives to and from the church and airport over the weekend.

Pray for our youth that the Lord will stir new things and move in ways in our youth that we can’t ask or imagine.  Pray that as they are immersed in this environment their love for the Lord would deepen, and the desire and invitation to head into what God has called them to would increase.  Pray that this wouldn’t just be an event, but it would be a space where transformation would happen as we are challenged to be great lovers of Jesus and others.

It’s breathtaking to be in an atmosphere where teens are hungry for God.  Thanks to all of you at WCV who have supported us on this adventure.  There’s been enormous financial support through our fundraising efforts;  for this we are so grateful.

Thanks for joining us in prayer over this next week,
~Jodi ~”

Nepali Women’s Co-op Table

Nepali Women’s Co-op started 10 years ago after a two week trip to Nepal. The markets were filled with beautiful wares colorful and practical. Also, the needs of the women were very apparent…how could we help? The idea was born… Purchase items in Nepali markets, sell them in Winnipeg, send all the profits to benefit Nepali women through education and micro business. Three years later a partnership with Third + Bird began.

Nepali Women’s Co-op provides start up costs for micro business, education costs for Primary, High School and Post Secondary School, and Tailoring Schools. Since the earthquake on May 15/15, earthquake relief has also become a focus, which includes providing shelter, food and other practical support.

Come support the Nepali Women’s Co-op this Friday and Saturday (April 29 + 30) at the Third + Bird Spring Market at the Transcona Country Club.

Christmas Eve Service

Every Christmas Eve, as other families across the world gather around a Christmas tree, we, as a church body, gather together to celebrate Christ’s birth. We remember and celebrate The One who Came by singing Christmas carols and lighting the last advent candle. This service is a candle lit service, where every family is welcome, and everyone will get their own individual candle.

We encourage you to come and celebrate with us as one body. But if you can’t make it, take a step back from the busyness of Christmas and remember the One, Jesus Christ, who came down as an infant child to dwell with us.

The service will be on Thursday, December 24th, 2015, 6:00 – 7 p.m.

Vineyard Prayer & Worship Summit 2016

The Prayer & Worship Summit is a four-day event IN EDMONTON, that provides an opportunity for you to experience the presence of God in a way that will change your life! It’s a time of abandonment, devotion and consecration as we come together in His presence.

This event is open to everyone, including families with children of all ages. The Edmonton Vineyard churches are also welcoming the country-wide church body, as they see the church as an inter-denominational creative expression of God’s love.

Pre-summit symposiums are February 24th – 25th.

There are three options for symposiums:

It will be a celebration of everything God has done in and through us since 1995.  It’ll be a party of God’s love and faithfulness. WCV CD Worship Singalong

We’re in the process of recording a worship album comprised of 12 homegrown songs from WCV. Though this is a studio album, we really want to capture the live feel of what worship in our gatherings actually sounds like.

You’re invited to a community singalong where we’ll have a great time hanging out and worshipping to some songs from the CD. Your voice and the sound of us singing together will be recorded for the upcoming album. And don’t worry – we won’t make you sing solo!

Anyone whose home is WCV is welcome – and we’d love to have families and kids participate.

Awake: Community Art Show

Hey Vineyard & Flatlander Artists,

This is the official first email about the annual Vineyard and Flatlanders community art show party, which is coming up Friday, March 6th.

Because the show is in spring this year, we came up with the name Awake. What’s interesting about this name is that I have begun to see this theme of awaken in our community in 2015. So if you need idea’s and a theme to get you thinking about what you can create for the show, maybe using “awake” as a spring (no pun intended) board might help you get inspired. But you don’t have to follow this theme, you can do whatever you feel drawn (no pun intended) too. And remember, kids art is most definitely welcome – we want to celebrate kids art and encourage their creative minds.

Title, Date & Time

The show is called Awake, and the opening show and party is Friday, March 6th, from 6:30pm – 9:30pm.

Let Me Know

Email me back if you want to be a part of this show. As usual have about three art pieces ready, with the understanding that there may only be room for you to put one or two pieces in the show so we can fit everyone in.

All Artistic Expressions Welcome

Let’s make this a party. This means we don’t just need art on the walls, we also want performers of all kinds. Musician’s and songwriters please feel fee to email me so we have live music. Dancers, videographers, poets, spoken word, crafters, etc, all feel welcome to join and include your art in this party which also wants to celebrate the performing arts.

Kids Art, Yes

As I already stated, but wanted to reiterate, kids art is more than welcome in this show. Isn’t it great to have kids art alongside everyone else’s art! I think the kids especially get a kick out of seeing their art included with “the big kids” – it makes them feel included and valued, and grown up, ha.

Food Makers

Maybe you don’t really make art but you like making food. Well making food is an art and we want to include you as well. Be a part of this show by sharing your enthusiasm for cooking by blessing us with a delectable treat for the opening party.

So What Do You Have To Do Again???

Email me back if you want to be in the show, this includes all artistic expression and food! And email me back even if you don’t want to be in the show so I don’t keep bothering you 🙂

Thanks for all of your efforts in advance – I’m excited to see what we can all create together.
